Customized Report for Bank Market Research

A large bank with over 200 bank branches in some 5 states evaluates the sub-market that each branch competes in once a year. Evaluating the sub-markets and formulating strategy and tactics for each individual branch has helped the bank to increase customer satisfaction, retention, and profitability. Each of the nearly 100 sub-markets located throughout the 5 states requires a unique analysis and report.

All this information comes from a wide variety of disparate data sources: transactions, deposits, loans, and general ledger data came from the clients' internal SAP and other computer systems; governmental data came from the Federal Deposit Insurance Commission (FDIC), the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), the Federal Reserve, and Census Bureau; market research data came from third parties and was conducted by Appian Analytics; data from third parties like population profiles and forecasts came from Sheshunoff and others.

To put it mildly, the client had their hands full for a couple of months before each meeting. Analysts, managers, and IS staff would spend many rushed days accumulating the data, cleaning and formatting, tying data together, aggregating and summarizing, performing analysis, designing reports, maps, tables, and other charts, and of course actually producing the reports and getting the appropriate copies made. Without the proper amount of automated data processing, database manipulation automation, and report, graph, map, and chart automation, these projects can be quite time consuming, costly, and at risk of quality errors.

Appian Analytics has staff on hand who are experts in automating analyses, data processing, data formatting, and map and report production. Getting Started
What did it take for the client to leverage Appian Analytics? The client simply provided the data for the reports, a copy of the last study, and any new charts. The reports were duplicated, the data processing and analysis routines automated, and improvements implemented in a very short time. Whereas this project historically took internal staff 2-3 months, the first iteration of the project only took Appian Analytics a little over a month. However, the next time the client needed to produce reports, even with modest changes, production took only a few weeks.

Also, revisions to certain report formats can be implemented very late in the production without adversely affecting the delivery date or quality. Finally, the new reports are easy-to-read, succinct, and powerfully illustrated. Appian Analytics successfully implemented an automation system that saved time, money and allowed our client to stay focused on their business.
